PROFILE
I’ve got my second level university degree cum laude under prof. Paolo Cesaretti’s guidance at the
University of Bergamo, Faculty of Humanities, with a final dissertation in Roman History entitled
Ravenna – Caput Italiae? Indagini recenti sulla città nel contesto dell'alto Adriatico tardo antico,
where I’ve considered the development of late antique Ravenna not only in itself, but also in
relation with other important areas and urban centres of the Mediterranean, especially the north
Adriatic area and Constantinople.
For my final dissertation, I’ve translated difficult written sources (literary and not only) and have
combined the written and the archaeological evidence. Furthermore, I’ve intensively read a series of
modern monographic studies abt. not only Ravenna and the Adriatic but the overall Mediterranean
world. I had a direct experience of excavations -in the area of Metaponto.
Then I’ve got my PhD degree in Historical and Anthropological Sciences at the University of
Verona, with a final dissertation in Roman History entitled Eugippii Vita sancti Severini. Dal testo
al territorio: il Norico tardoantico (supervisor: prof. A. Buonopane).
It was divided into two different parts: the first one was devoted to the understanding and
classification of hagiographical genre, which is own of the Life of Saint Severin; the latter was
mostly articulated, an historical and cultural reconstruction of the context in the late antique
province of Noricum, the main setting of the source’s narrative.
Fellow researcher (it.: assegnista di ricerca) at the University of Bergamo (2016-2019).
The aim of my research is the development, also in digital format (website), of a reference
prosopographical work about ancient mobility.
My project considers people who were native in Transpadana as well as Oriens and have travelled
respectively towards the other pars Imperii, from 2nd to 7th century CE.
Junior Lecturer in Roman History at the University of Bergamo (2nd May 2023-30th April
2026).
Achieved the National Scientific qualification as associate professor in the Italian higher
education system (call ASN 2023/2025) for the disciplinary field of 10/D1 – Ancient History.
